FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Common questions from school administrators, parents, and social workers regarding safety, logistics, budgets, and allergy management.

  • We treat student health with maximum care. Our alternative learning arena takes place completely outdoors, which significantly reduces allergen concentrations compared to classrooms. Furthermore, Ante is fully groomed before every session, and we provide allergen-safe field jackets. For the schools themselves, we establish clear non-contact corridors and clean areas, and Ante does not enter standard indoor classrooms unless explicitly planned and cleared by all parents.

  • Ariel is a qualified educator with years of therapeutic training, and Ante is exceptionally skilled at reading human distress. We never force contact. If a pupil is fearful, we use a gradual, systematic desensitization process. In early sessions, Ante remains comfortably on a leash far away or visible only through cabin windows. Often, seeing other youth interact playfully with Ante triggers organic curiosity, and students move from absolute fear to hand-feeding treats at their own comfortable tempo.

  • Yes! Municipalities regularly use state funding designated for special education assistance, school environment improvement (pursuant to the Norwegian Education Act, Chapter 9A), and mental wellness prevention funds. Because Ariel is a fully qualified, state-licensed teacher in Norway, our services qualify directly as custom alternative educational training under local municipal frameworks.

  • Absolutely. Security is our absolute foundation. Ariel maintains comprehensive professional liability insurance. Ante has undergone rigorous temperament evaluations, and his health and vaccinations are certified quarterly by a licensed Nordic veterinarian. We also maintain a comprehensive risk analysis document for all outdoor routes we traverse.

  • We do not operate in isolation. We coordinate close and active reporting. After each weekly session, Ariel compiles a brief relational and behavioral log detailing active milestones, emotional status, and communication breakthroughs. We hold formal tri-party alignment meetings with school leaders, parents, and pedagogical-psychological services (PPT) every six weeks.

  • As the Norwegian saying goes: "Det finnes ikke dårlig vær, bare dårlige klær" (There is no bad weather, only bad clothing). We embrace the seasons! However, for extreme frost or high winds, we transition to our cozy wood-heated wilderness cabin basecamp. Here, pupils learn to safety-start wood stoves, cook hearty stews, and engage in cozy indoor woodcraft and board games with Ante.
